Ed Ranns: - Director

Coming to the industry with a degree in Civil Engineering and Construction Management, Ed started off as a site engineer but soon realised that Quantity Surveying and especially dispute resolution was what captivated him the most. Since then Ed has worked up from the Trainee Quantity Surveying to leading commercial teams on projects ranging in value from £200k to £125million and then being the Commercial Lead in his last company. Throughout his career Ed has undertaken the production of documentation to establish entitlement to prolongation, disruption and disturbance on projects in the businesses he worked for.

Ed has had a hands on approach throughout his career and is consequently able to provide a wealth of experience and knowledge to any construction project. He has on numerous occasions supplemented the site team by carrying out the planning function as well as specific site management assignments. 

Ed is now a Member of the Charter Institute of Builders, Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an Associate member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Ed has a Diploma in Adjudication from the RICS and a panel member of UK Adjudicators, an Adjudication Nominating Body.

Ed is also a qualified Expert Witness having gain certification again through the RICS.

Ray Ranns: - Consultant

Ray has been working in the industry for over 50 years and undertakes a Quality Assurance role in RPS Ltd on all major claims or financial submissions. He started off as a site engineer and progressed through to Project Manager and then Regional Director. Ray travelled the world with his work and was involved in some of the largest civil engineering projects of their time in Hong Kong, Dubai, Iran. Returning to the UK he was Project Manager on Newhaven Swing Bridge, British Steels SPACE project, Myton Swing Bridge in Hull and Kessock Bridge in Scotland. Ray then started his construction and claims consultancy RHBR in 1987. Ray closed his own consultancy and now provides advice solely to RPS Ltd based on his extensive experience of submissions for major contractors.
